Happy Watercolor Sneak Peek!

Happy New Year!  I hope you had lovely Christmas and a fun New Years Eve last night!  Hubby and I just decided to stay in and enjoy a quiet evening, watching a movie.  As for our Christmas, well, lemme tell ya, it was a memorable one, that's for sure.  Due to a freezing ice storm, we had no power for almost a week!  The wood stove in our kitchen saved our butts, truly.  It would have been a nightmare without it.  It keep us cozy warm and I also did all the cooking on it (which I normally do in the winter anyhow).  Russell (aka McGyver) rigged up a headlight to a car battery and that was our main light.

We also used an oil lamp and lots of candles.

We even melted snow and icicles on the stove to do the dishes (and wash my hair!)

The way I look at it is we had a sweet "Little House on the Prairie" holiday.  HA!  Seriously though, it wasn't an ideal Christmas, but we were sooooo lucky.  We had many, many friends with no heat, along with no power and to add insult to injury, many had burst water pipes too.  Not fun.  We were keeping on eye on our friend's home while they were in Nova Scotia and sure enough, their pipes burst!  Thank goodness we caught it when we did or their whole house would have flooded! Fortunately we got it under control and cleaned up before they got home so it wasn't too traumatic for them.

So all in all, it's been a hectic, strange time.  I also couldn't stamp! Oh the horror!  *wink*  My ink pads and stamps were too cold, as I had no heat in my hobby room and the temperature outside got down to -21'C.  I moved most of my stamps and supplies into the dining room, where it's toasty and bright, so if the power goes out again I'm prepared! LOL  Today was my first day back stamping and it was soooooo nice!  I used the new "Happy Watercolor" stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue (starts Jan 3rd):

I stamped the images with Versamark and embossed in white and to colour it  I just used  Coastal Cabana (same colour as the card stock), Pool Party and Bermuda Bay ink pads with a blender pen.  I love how it turned out!
I used the "Yippee-Skippee" stamp set for the inside - this sentiment goes perfectly with the "Happy Watercolor" stamp set!

Table built using Stampin' Up! Product Table Builder from The Crafty Owl.

Well, I'm off for a walk with my Sweetheart and our hounds and then we'll be (finally) having our Christmas turkey dinner tonight! Our house smells sooooo good!

Enjoy the day and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Loved reading your story during the power outage, we had the same thing about 3 years ago, thank heaven for our wood stove. Isn't it amazing what we can live without.
