"Girl's Day" Stamping & Lunch

I decided I wanted to host a "Girl's Day" get together with my friends this past weekend, for lunch and stamping. After being 'cooped up' indoors most of the winter, I needed some 'girl time' - and what FUN we had!
All the cards are ready and pre-cut, for my friends to stamp and assemble!

Romeo, waiting for everyone to arrive!
I made a lunch for everyone with homemade rolls, baked ham, cheese, some of my canned pickles, and a crockpot of beans. I'll share the bean recipe (which is always a hit) with you  - just click on the recipe tab at the top of this page. For dessert I served meringue shells filled with cheesecake filling and topped with strawberries. Tea, coffee and fruit-infused water and Banana-Date Walnut Loaf was also on the table for anyone to help themselves. I think you can tell I love cooking as much as I love stamping! I pulled out my china (Royal Albert "Lavender Rose") and set everything up real nice. Then I realized I don't have a proper coffee carafe - must get one. I used my fancy-schpancy Stanley Thermos for the coffee instead! LOL

Everyone enjoyed the meal and loved making their cards too!

Some of my friends had never stamped before so I couldn't wait to show them how to make cards - we made four birthday cards, two feminine and two masculine. All the cards were a hit and everyone loved making them! I started off with a really easy card, using one colour for the card stock and ink:

My friends also learned the 'masking' technique, stamping the trees behind the truck.

The second card was another easy one, featuring the "Heartfelt Blooms" Sale-a-bration stamp and the sentiment is from the fabulous stamp set from the "Lots of Happy Card Kit":

My dog Cooper just loves Beth, who is also our neighbour.
He slept under her chair the whole time! LOL

The third card, my favourite out of them all, uses the "Waterfront" stamp set. The images in this set are just so awesome and make it easy - even for beginner stampers - to create a masterpiece!

Everyone had the option of adding the birds, if they wanted, from the "High Tide" stamp set:

The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from the "Butterfly Basics" stamp set.

Do you remember the first time you saw the magic of heat embossing? I sure do! I remember being completely "WOWED" and knew I wanted to share this technique with my friends who hadn't stamped before - and guess what? They were "WOWED" too! Nothing beats hearing 'ohhhs' and 'ahhhs' when you're showing friends stamping techniques - it's the best!
