August Stamp Club Projects

August 4, 2011 Leave a Comment

Last night I really enjoyed my stamp club with the ladies.  These are all relatively new stampers (these gals just formed their own club last month) so it’s really cool to watch them fall in love with rubber stamping and the techniques I’m teaching them.  It’s also satisfying for me to see their confidence grow each time they learn more and stamp more.  It’s awesome to see.  Even when those few who think they’re not creative at all surprise themselves and are delighted with their finished project!

We used the gorgeous SWEET FLORAL background stamp – this stamp is so stunning.  Using Early Espresso Classic Ink, we stamped the image onto Crumb Cake Card stock.  The expression is from my new FAVOURITE stamp set, PERFECTLY PENNED, and was stamped with ISLAND INDIGO Classic Ink.   A really fast card and it looks terrific!

Stepping it up, we used the same SWEET FLORAL and PERFECTLY PENNED Stamp Sets.  The cardstock and ink are the new In Colours, WISTERIA WONDER and LUCKY LIMEADE.  These two colours are classic together and look really nice!  (I cased this card from the talented Linda Heller) We also layered our cards with a piece of FIRST EDITION SPECIALITY Designer Series Paper (this DSP rocks! I love it).  The FOUR FRAMES stamp set was used with LUCKY LIMEADE Classic Ink and punched out with the DECORATIVE LABEL punch.  If you don’t have this punch yet, you’re definitely going to want it.  I use it all the time and so many stamps work beautifully with it, which makes it versatile and convenient.

And don’t forget to stamp your envelopes – it makes all the difference in the world!  The recipient of this card will be impressed that the card and envelope match – it’s the little things that make a difference!

This inside of the card – I added bits of scrap cardstock and DSP to the corners, just for fun and to pull the colours inside.
As always, the BIG SHOT travels with me to all my stamp clubs and classes!  We used the SQUARE LATTICE embossing folder and in the card sample I used the popular TOP NOTE die.  But what happens if you accidently leave the Top Note Die at home?? (AGH!)
You IMPROVISE! LOL  We just tore around the edges instead.  TIP: When you tear your paper for that vintage look that’s so hip right now, make sure to always tear TOWARDS you.  This gives it a better texture.
Each club this year will be making TWO cards and ONE 3-D project.  This was our 3-D item; a really sweet bookmark made the FUN FLOWERS die.

The sentiment on the tag is from the CREATIVE ELEMENTS Stamp Set.  Notice the SHIMMER?  Those of you who know me know how HOOKED I am with our CHAMPAGNE MIST SHIMMER PAINT (I mix it with Rubbing Alcohol and mist EVERYTHING in sight! Kid you not! LOVE IT!)

Here’s how the bookmark looks once it’s tucked inside a favourite book.

Tonight I have a BIG SHOT class and I’m really looking forward to it! The ladies who are coming have used the Big Shot before so I really want to “WOW” them with their projects.  I picked up some tricks and ideas from Convention so I can’t wait to show them! Come back tomorrow – I’ll post photos of tonight’s class.
I’m going to be busy today; I’ve got a whole lotta painting to do. My husband and I have been renovating our bathroom.  DH has been doing an INCREDIBLE job!  I’ll post before and after pictures once we’re all finished, which should be really soon.  What a difference though.  It’s a lot bigger and brighter as we expanded it into my ‘old hobby room’ and there’s now an extra window in the bathroom.  I’ll tell ya, our bathroom could become my new favourite room in the whole house! hee hee! “Where’s Tina?” “Oh, she’s up in the bathroom…stamping.” All I’d need is a little bar fridge in there and I’d be set for days! LOL
Have a great day and HAPPY STAMPING!

AvatarI joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
