Buffalo Check & Painted Glass Card using Baby Wipe Technique

March 18, 2019 2 Comments

Hi Friends! I hope you had a nice weekend! I had a few friends over on Friday night – we stamped, ate, laughed and had a great time. It was so nice to hang out with girl-friends – it’s been too long since I’ve done that. I think we’ll be making this a monthly get-together and I’m already looking forward to the next one. The days go by so fast with our daily routines and I think it’s important to slow down and take the time to relax and ‘play’ and enjoy.

Speaking of ‘play’, I made a few more cards this weekend, using leftover pieces from my “Baby Wipe” card stock (you can see the video & details here). I stamped an entire sheet of Whisper White card stock with the circle image from the “Painted Glass” set, but then I wasn’t sure what to do with it. So I set it aside. Next, I used my ‘Baby Wipe ink pad’ on the Buffalo Check stamp and stamped that onto card stock. Hmmm, my creative mojo started to kick into gear…. I heat embossed the sentiment from “Home to Roost” using White Embossing Powder onto Basic Black card stock, mounted it on Berry Burst and set it aside. In my “Baby Wipe Technique” video I demonstrated how to ‘streak’ the paper with the inked baby wipes. I took some of that and stamped more “Painted Glass” circles. Then I cut out the ‘flower’ image from the centre.

Now I had my Buffalo Check background, three ‘flowers’ and some circles. I played around with the card layout and I finally found what I thought was a ‘balanced’ and pleasing arrangement for the circles and flowers. It looked a bit plain-Jane though so I cut some scraps of Lemon Lime Twist card stock with the Leaf Punch. This was one of those cards just keep ‘needing something’, but I just wasn’t sure what. So I placed some rhinestones and pearls on the centre of the flowers and circles. Still, the card wasn’t ‘speaking’ to me. I took a break, played ball with my hounds, made a cup of tea and then I meandered back to my stamp room. Bam! It hit me! Add black marker to the stamped images! Yup. That was just what the card needed. Whew. It’s funny how some cards just come along so easily and then other ones, like this one, make you think! LOL I really love how it turned out.

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

This card truly rocks my world. The colour on your plaid bg is stunning. The whole layout is fun!

Yes, it's fun to get together with girlfriends. On Wednesday's my retired girlfriend hosts a lunch and knit session. We eat by noon, and knit by 12:30, then at 1:30 it's off to work my afternoon shift at the hospital. I work every other week of afternoons so that's the only time I can go.

Tomorrow I took the day off work to celebrate four birthdays. Each one gets a present and homemade card. Because I'm off tomorrow, I'm bringing wine 🙂
