Can you say “DENIM”?

November 11, 2010 1 Comment

Hi Everyone!
I did a workshop for a lovely lady last night (3 hrs away, but she’s worth it!) and we had a super fun time. Cathy, my dear friend (and downline) came along to keep me company for the drive – and I suspect to keep me awake for the drive home. Aside from the heavy rain, it wasn’t a bad drive – we talked the whole way about Stampin’ Up! and life in general. How blessed am I to have met such a wonderful friend through my SU business. Therese (my hostess), whom I met at the Fall Fair this past Sept, has a marvelous home based business. She creates bags and accessories out of denim! Check out some of her items:

If you’d like some more information about Therese’s denim products and/or wish to purchase items from her (she even makes denim bandanas for doggies! Our little Rosey looks very pretty with hers!); let me know and I’ll give you her contact information.

Now, those of you who own a BIG SHOT will know what I’m talking about when I say that Therese ‘NEEDS’ a Big Shot for her business. No question! So I was sure to show her what the Big Shot was all about. She was WOWED! I also made a couple of gift items for Therese (especially since she and her husband had dinner waiting for Cathy and I when we arrived!). FYI – I am NOT a sewer. No ifs, ands or buts about it. It one of the few things that I don’t have patience for. But let me tell ya, I’ve been having a ball sewing items with the new SU fabric and now denim too! LOL I made a tree ornament for Therese, using denim and the small pennant on the pennant die. I embellished with some Candy Cane buttons, rick rack, glass glitter and ribbon. I wish I took a picture!!! I also made Therese a flower brooch that is all the rage right now – I LOVED how it turned out! And I made a card with the Top Note die and more denim.

Before I headed off to Therese’s neck of the woods, I experimented stamping on denim and took the samples for her. Therese is very interested about how she can incorporate stamping with her creations. Craft white and whisper white embossing powder worked really well. Versamark with embossing powder (gold and silver) looked good too. The EP gets ‘absorbed’ into the fabric once zapped with the heat gun (which also heat sets it). Black Stazon (with the Razzle Dazzel stamp set) was stunning – AND waterproof! We soaked it in soapy water for more than half an hour and it didn’t smudge or fade a bit. The total stunner though was heat and stick powder with the Stampin’ Glitter (I used the Fine Cosmo in pink and green). Seriously WOW! WOW! WOW! I am going to make some more projects, using denim and the glitter and will post the photos for you so that YOU can be as “WOWED” as we were!

On a side note, I stamped a bunch of 3×3 thank you cards for my customers yesterday (I always include a thank you card with every order) and they were so quick to do, and I thought they were so darling, I’ve just got to show you!

Ah yes – the ever present coffee cup somehow always manages to get in the photos…LOL

I used Black Stazon, Whisper White card stock, ‘Puns from the Past” and “Silhouette Sentiments” stamp sets with the black gingham ribbon. Aren’t they sweet??? Again, just goes to show that simple can still be stunning and you don’t have to spend forever to make a quick card. You really CAN find the TIME to STAMP!!!

That’s it for me. I’m hittin’ the hay early tonight. Hot chocolate, marshmallows and book are callin’ my name right now….LOL

HAPPY STAMPING!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

Love the black and white cards and especially the "fan mail." Lots of inspiration–I need to come back often, I think.
