Daisy Lane with Watercolor Pencils | Card Tutorial

July 15, 2020 Leave a Comment

Hi Friends! Last night I had a play with my Watercolor Pencils. Sometimes I feel like they get a bit neglected and need some love – and love them I do! I wanted to colour on cardstock that wasn’t white so I pulled out a sheet of our Cinnamon Cider for the background. I used the flowers from the “Daisy Lane” set and started colouring in shades of blues and mauves.

I really like how the white watercolor pencil highlights the images. Here’s the tutorial for you:

Measurements:

  • Cinnamon
    Cider: 8 ½” x 5 ½”” and 5” x 3 ¾”

  • Whisper
    White: 4” x 5 ¼” and ½” x 2 ¾”

Instructions:

  1. Fold
8 ½” x 5 ½” Cinnamon Cider in half to create card base. Stamp
fern image randomly around the edges of card using Cinnamon Cider
    ink pad.

  2. Tap
sponge dauber into the Cinnamon Cider ink pad and sponge edges of
Whisper White card stock. Use Stampin’ Seal to adhere to front of
    card.

  3. Stamp
flowers and leaves onto 5” x 3 ¾” Cinnamon Cider card stock
    using Black Stazon ink pad.

  4. Colour
flowers and leaves with Watercolor Pencils in desired colours. Add
white watercolor pencil on flower tips and edges, blending with
Water Painter. Add dots of the white pencil in flower centres.

  5. Ink
sponge dauber with Cinnamon Cider ink pad and sponge edges of the
Cinnamon Cider card stock layer; adhere to front of card.

  6. Stamp
sentiment from “Special Someone” with Misty Moonlight ink onto
the ½” x 2 ¾” piece of Whisper White card stock and cut with
Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. Sponge edges with Cinnamon Cider ink and
place on card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  7. Lightly
spritz Champagne Shimmer Mist Paint onto card (add a few drops of
paint to 70% rubbing alcohol to create a spray).

  8. Add
two Cinnamon Cider enamel dots to the sentiment banner.

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
