Enjoying Nova Scotia and Rooted in Nature Card Tutorial

October 5, 2018 1 Comment

Hi Friends!  This week we had company, my BFF and her hubby, arrive from Vancouver Island. It’s their first visit to the East Coast so we’ve been having a great time showing them the sites. Yesterday we toured close to home, to show them the Cape George Lighthouse (above photo) and some lobster boats at the nearby wharf.
This is also where the tuna charters go out from, which is what my sweetheart’s sister (Chandra) and brother-in-law (John) do (they are also lobster fishers). Check out the photo below of Chandra’s recent catch – it’s a new IGFA World Record for the women’s bluefin tuna that weighed 546lbs!

I’m so excited because we’ll be going tuna fishing with John and Chandra in a few days!!! Each season (beginning end of August) I also cook all the meals for guests and crew of the Giant Bluefin Tuna charters – last year I made over 300 plates! This year’s season just finished this week, so in between my stamping and canning this month, I’ve also been making everything from seafood chowders to shepherd’s pie, beef stroganoff and delicious chicken pasties! So it’s nice to relax with our friends over the next couple of weeks and play ‘tourist’ with them!
Yesterday, we also stopped by the Arisag lighthouse and watched HUNDREDS of dolphins, which was so neat! We then went to one of our favourite spots for fish and chips – it was great day!

This weekend we’re off to do the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton, during their famous Celtic Colours. It is going to be spectacular. Our campsite tonight is on a hilltop over looking the Atlantic ocean, surrounded by all the colourful foliage of the trees. Then I’ve got a houseful (17) for Thanksgiving dinner this weekend! So it’s going to be a busy and fun time. For those of you also in Canada, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving too! And if you’ve got some time for stamping and creating, here’s one of my favourite techniques for you to try….

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
