Flower Patch Birthday Card

Hi Friends. My Grandma turns 93 years young in a couple of weeks and I wanted to make her a special card to go along with the shawl I made for her. First, I’ll tell you a bit about the shawl. I’m relatively new to knitting and crochet and I only know the basics but I LOVE making these shawls! You can find the pattern HERE. I made the same shawl for my Grandma a few years ago and no joke, she wears it EVERY DAY. Suffice to say it’s starting to get a bit tattered. Here’s the new one I’m popping in the mail for her today:

“Splendid Triangle Shawl”
So onto the card; I really enjoyed making this – I used the Flower Patch stamp set and coordinating Flower Fair Framelits. The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set.
To make the card: I embossed the little flower from “Flower Patch” in white to create the background.  I used an image from the same set on a piece of vellum and embossed with gold for the overlay.  Once I cut out the flowers and leaves I misted with water, scrunched them up for some texture and let them dry. I find the multipurpose liquid glue works best for adhering the flowers onto the card.

At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

Great job on the shawl, Tina. She wears it often because it is getting a hug from you. Enjoy your blog and fun projects.
