Guy Greetings

March 16, 2015 1 Comment

Hi Friends! Well, I guess I spoke too soon in my last post about Spring coming. Instead we got hit with the biggest snow storm of the season yesterday – and the snow hasn’t showed any signs of stopping! Almost 40cm of the lovely white stuff already. Hmph.  I don’t even know what to say. Despite the fact that the falling snow was indeed pretty, it is still time for Mother Nature to send spring flowers our way! LOL  Oh well, it’s all good. And what can you do, right? So you may as well enjoy it. As the saying goes: “Make hay while the sun shines.” (Except we need the SUN!)

Today’s card features the new “Guy Greetings” stamp set. This was the first time I used this set and I must say, I think I could get hooked on these fun images! And it’s always good to have masculine stamps handy! This set is a keeper for sure!

To make this card I stamped “Gorgeous Grunge” with Crumb Cake ink on the Crumb Cake card base. I also spritzed some of the images with a light mist of water first. The postmark stamp is from the “Butterfly Basics” stamp set (I can see me using this particular stamp on a ton of projects!).  Soft Suede is the colour of card stock and ink I used for the rest of the layout.  I used a Blender Pen on the man as well as the Happy Birthday sentiment just to pull some of the ink into the images a bit, without having to actually colour them. I wanted to keep the look soft.  The Soft Suede layer was run through the Big Shot using the Argyle embossing folder. Finally, just for fun, I did a bit of paper piercing along the edge. That’s it! This card took under 10 minutes to make and if you left out the embossing on the Big Shot and the paper piercing, it’s a great card to feature just the basic ink, stamps and paper!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
