The calm before the storm, yesterday morning. |
Some trees were uprooted at our neighbours and we had a big tree come down in the lot beside our property, but for the most part, that was it. I’ve heard there are LOTS of trees down in our area – including a huge and BEAUTIFUL tree not far from us (I’m not looking forward to seeing it – seeing those old trees come down is sad). I would say we were all VERY LUCKY there wasn’t more damage. Fortunately, we have a wood stove and generator, so even when the power went out, we had heat and lights. We actually ate a turkey supper that I cooked early yesterday (while we still had electricity; the stove really drains the generator) and watched a movie, then slept through the worst of the storm. Power is still out, but the generator is on and the wood stove has our house nice and cosy (it’s only 9′ outside!).
