I am soooooo ready for blue skies, warm weather and flowers! This has been a long winter and here on the East Coast we’re still dipping below zero at night time. Friends and family back home on Vancouver Island have been rubbing it in that they’re having +22′ days and have cut their lawns three times already. Hubby and I spotted bits of icy snow piles in spots along the roads, during a drive out this past weekend. We’ve already got our veggies started (thanks to my husband) and they’re getting big enough for planting outside but it’s still too cold – a few more weeks yet, I think. But we’ve got gardening on the mind. And BBQ’s. And just putting the laundry on the clothesline, whilst the warm wind blows is something I am soooo looking forward too. This has indeed been a LONG winter and Spring has been rather disappointing thus far. In my yard I have tulips, lilies, daffodils and hyacinth that are finally making their presence known but are still not close to flowering yet. My rhubarb is starting to grow rather quickly – which is one consolation. What I am most waiting for is my hollyhocks. I LOVE hollyhocks. Last summer I didn’t have any to admire, as the kind of I’ve got planted are bi-annuals. So they’ll be in full force this year. I also planted more hollyhocks this past fall that apparently bloom every year. I also made new flower beds last summer, all along our front veranda and filled them with tulips and once they’re finished I’ll plant geraniums. The two wisterias I planted still have a few years to go before they’ll bloom. *sigh* Yes, I have summer on my mind. And with that thought, I created today’s project using a free digital download from Stampin’ Up!, called Playful Polka Dots.
free download until the end of today
so if you haven’t gotten it yet,
The Playful Polka Dots kit comes with a sweet 11″ x 8 1/2″ template, which I did nothing to except drop in my photos, quick and easy:
Along with my gardening and flowers, I am also anxious for our bike rides and our fun little getaway trips! |
Scrapbooking has been something I want to get back into
on a regular basis and I’m so far behind. So I can least get caught up
with Stampin’ Up! templates and then I can take a bit more time
creating my own layouts.
