In the Meadow

April 4, 2016 2 Comments

Hi Friends. I just LOVE the card I’m sharing with you today. I used “In the Meadow” (from the current Occassions catalogue). This is a fabulous stamp set, especially for ‘men’ cards, which I know can be a bit challenging. But I actually made this card for a dear friend of mine who loves all things nature, as much as I do, and she was so taken with the card that she now owns this stamp set too!

To make the card I used the ‘Reverse Image’ technique for the fawn that stamped off on it’s own. To do this I inked the deer using my black marker and stamped onto the smooth side of the pastic piece that comes with the ‘Stamp-a-ma-jig’ tool. Then I flipped the plastic over so that the inked side was face down on the card stock and gave it a good rub. The reverse image is now on the card. Sometimes the image comes out faded so I will just go over with a black marker.  I thought I had a video showing this technique on my youtube channel, but when I looked there I couldn’t find one. Guess that means I’d best hurry up and do one for ya, huh? LOL I promise to do that this week.

To finish the card, I used markers directly on the tree stamps and my aqua painter with my inks to colour in the rest. I also added some white using our White Gel Pen for the spots on the fawns.  Oh – one more thing, you may have noticed about the card is the sentiment.  The stamp is actually two lines, not one. To make it one long line, I inked up the first row of words using my marker (omitting the bottom line) and stamped it onto the Kraft strip of paper for my banner. Then I cleaned the stamp and inked the second row of words and stamped it onto my plastic sheet, lined it up on my banner, reinked, positioned my stamp-a-ma-jig, removed the plastic and stamped. If you’ve never done this before you’re probably scratching your head right now. No worries, I’ll also show this on my next video for you. Visuals are always so much easier!

AvatarI joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

Love your Card and love how you made the extra little fawn. Great Idea! I'm going to be using this set to make a Mother's Day Card for my Mom. Glad I stopped by.
