Hi Friends! As of last Friday, I officially joined the “50’s Club”! Hoo-ah! I celebrated the big 5-0 with a lovely, relaxing day, with phone calls from my friends and family back home in BC. Later that afternoon my honey and I enjoyed a fantastic supper at one of our favourite places with his sister (whom I adore), brother-in-law and a friend of ours. We dined outside, overlooking the ocean…
It was a really great day – I couldn’t have asked for anything better! However, to be completely honest, I was a teeny bit sad that the ‘covid’ situation put a damper on any potential party plans with my friends – but it is what it is, right?
Wrong. So wrong.
Unbeknownst to me, Brian and his sister (photo below) had been in cahoots and secretly planned a BIG birthday bash for me!
Turns out Brian and his sister Chandra had been planning quite the surprise party for me…as the following day approx. 20 dear friends and family showed up at our house! Our garage had been secretly decorated, complete with tables, chairs, banners, and TONS of food – even our gazebo was decked out with lights and birthday banners! I had no idea any of this had been in the works – they got me good!
It was a fabulous party and we all had such a GREAT time!

Brian asked Debbie if she could decorate my cake with my fur-babies and she did an INCREDIBLE job! The little icing decorations are currently in my china cabinet, for safekeeping, until they completely disintegrate! LOL
I was absolutely spoiled and was feeling the LOVE, that’s for sure.
Speaking of love, I also received some amazing hand-stamped cards in the mail, one being the inspiration for today’s tutorial. The card was made by my friend, Karen Halverson, and she happily shared the directions to make it. It’s called a “Double Flap Fun Fold” and I used the “Gilded Autumn Suite” for my version – I hope you enjoy this demonstration and give this card a try!
- Mint Macaron Card base: 5 1/2″ x 10″, scored along the 10″ side at 4 1/4″ and 8 1/2″
- Mint Macaron Front Flap: 7″ x 3 1/2″, score at 3 1/2″
- Cajun Craze: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ , 1 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ , three pieces 3 3/8″ x 3 3/8″
- Whisper White: two pieces 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ , two pieces 4″ x 5 1/4″ (for inside of card) , plus scrap for leaf punches
- Designer Series Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 1 1/4″ x 5 1/4″, plus piece for circle die
- Mint Macaron Ribbon: 15″ and 12″
