My Convention Card & 1st Ever Retreat!

August 2, 2011 Leave a Comment

Hi Everyone!  Well I have to tell ya, the weather today has caaaRAZY! Thunder and lightning and pouring down rain.  At one point this afternoon I even considered lighting our woodstove! *GASP!* And it’s AUGUST for Heaven’s Sake. According to the weatherman, we’re supposed to have thunder and rain for another two days.  And now the sky is brightening up and the sun is trying hard to poke through the clouds.  You never know what to put on in the morning: shorts or sweater?  LOL
Nonetheless, I’m currently enjoying a nice cuppa and working on my upcoming stamp classes, new clubs and even my first ever Stamping Retreat!  I am so excited! This retreat has been in the planning for some time now and due to limited spaces is already fully booked!
This is going to be a great weekend where we can all relax, soak in the hot tubs, have our massages and pedicures before we hit the sauna, a little bit of tarot card reading for fun, then we’ll enjoy gourmet meals prepared for us by our hosts (including their famed Chocolate Cheesecake) and later in the evening – weather permitted – we’ll toast smores around the campfire.  And lets not forget – STAMPING!  Of course, we’ll be creating our projects in the lodge, next to the stone fireplace, with a nice glass of vino.  I. Can’t. Wait.   I am already planning a second retreat in the Spring – I’ll post details as we get closer to the date.
I am also excited because yesterday I pre-ordered my goodies from the new Holiday Mini, which will be released on September 1st.  One of the (many) perks of being a demonstrator is the fact that we get to play with new products a whole month before everyone else! *wink*  Let me just tell ya though, you are going LOVE LOVE LOVE the new Holiday products that Stampin’ Up! has lined up for you – be prepared to have your socks blown off.  You heard it here first.  As much as I love summer I have to admit I’m itchin’ for the Fall (which is actually my favorite of all the seasons) just because of the Holiday Mini – I want to start crafting my Christmas gifts NOW!  When you see the Holiday Mini you’ll completely understand.  LOL
Speaking of Christmas, my card swap for our Convention this year year was indeed a Christmas card.  It’s a hybrid card that I made using My Digital Studio (check out my MDS class on Aug 12!).  I wanted the card to look vintage and old and I tried to make the skaters look like an old photograph….

…what do you think? I was pleased with how my cards turned out.  I made just over 150 of them!  Some are a bit different than others but the layout is the same.

Be sure to check out my Calendar of Events over the next few days – I’ll be adding all kinds of super FUN classes!!!!  I also have my monthly card classes, Big Shot class and Memory Page class (NEW!).  And my SUMMERTIME SANTA class is now open for registration ~ make 20 super cute cards in only an hour! All supplies provided!
HAPPY STAMPING!

AvatarI joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
