Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! It went by so fast though, hey? I managed to spend the entire day on Sunday working out in our yard and garden. I loved every minute of it and the weather was perfect – sunny and warm. I have been making new flower beds, including one along our front veranda – something I’ve been wanting to do since we moved here (almost five years ago). So I’m thrilled that THIS year I finally got to it! I’ve planted hostas, dahlias, bleeding hearts, coral bells, hollyhocks (one of my favourite flowers EVER), and my all time fav, wisteria. I have two of them planted, with my vision of trailing purple flowers and pretty greenery along our veranda. Oh my gosh – it’s going to be stunning. I did this once before, years ago, when I lived back home in British Columbia, and had great success with my wisteria. It was worth the wait – almost three years – for the flowers to bloom. It’s always fun to plan new flower beds and landscaping, I think. Now I’ve just got to get my garden finished – I’m about a month behind! My squash and tomatoes are planted and that’s about it! Oh well – it will get done. *wink*
On Friday night I had a private class for a friend of mine. She requested we do something different than traditional cards so we made grad cap gift card holders and paper bead wine charms. The paper beads are a new technique to me, but I know they’ve been around forever. They’re quite addictive, once you start making them. I thought the wine charms turned out pretty cute, and a nice change from the round ones that you usually see. What do you think?
I love the idea of customizing these wine charms with our DSP (designer
series paper) and ribbon to match the season, the occasion, or just the
personality of the recipient. Add a bottle of wine and maybe even a
couple of fun wine glasses and you’ve got yourself the makings of a
major ‘WOW’ gift! You’ll also get a ton of brownie points from your
friends and family, I have no doubt!

International Bazaar Designer Series Paper – this paper is mega coolieo!
Our Petite Purse Bigz Die it beyond adorable and perfect for these wine charms!
I am also smitten with little paper bows, like the one on the purse.
Stampin’ Up! features these bows on the cover of their new 2012-2013
Catalogue and Erica Clark (inkypinkies.blogspot.ca) has a great tutorial
for making them tiny. Super duper cute!

Here’s the video on how I made these wine charms:
Supplies used:
Wine Charms
Head pins, rings & clear beads (not Stampin’ Up!)
To make the purse:
I completely cased this idea from Stampin’ Up!’s “Stampin’ Success” magazine for demonstrators. Paper beads are perfect for cards, scrapbooking and other paper crafting embellishments!
Wouldn’t this make a sweet gift for someone? The card holder is really easy to make. Here’s how: Cut your card stock to 4 1/2″ X 11″. Stamp as desired then score along the 11″ side at 3 1/4″ and 7 1/2″. Fold on the creases. Use Sticky Strip to seal the bottom and sides. Voila! Decorate as desired and tuck in a packet of cards, sachets of tea, flower seeds, chocolate, coupons, you name it. I love that I can get such great project ideas from Stampin’ Up! too. The only problem is there’s not enough hours in the day to create everything that I want to! LOL Ah well…I can always start getting up an hour or two earlier every day…. *wink*
This past weekend I also had a private card class with Katrina and her friends – we had a such a good time. I really enjoyed meeting these wonderful ladies and stamping with them. Certainly one of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator! If you’d like to have a private card class with your friends, just send me an email and I’ll be happy to set it up with you.
This Saturday is my exclusive 10th Annual Hostess Appreciation Dinner. Hard to believe this is my tenth year! Wow – time flies when you’re having fun! I have between 35-43 ladies coming and I’m so excited! I’ll be busy this week finishing preparations and I’ll post photos for you sometime next week.
Enjoy the day & HAPPY STAMPING!
