Perennial Birthday, Lovely Wishes and Picture Perfect Birthday Sneak Peek

November 21, 2017 Leave a Comment

Hi Friends. Today is my Grandma’s 94 birthday! She’s doing really good and despite a few minor health concerns, you’d never know she was 94 years young!

A photo taken of Grandma today, celebrating her special day!

Grandma lives on Vancouver Island with my Dad and his wife and she is super happy (and she says she’s quite spoiled). Well, Grandma spoils ME every time I go back home for a visit – which was twice this past year (it’s not always easy, living on the opposite end of the country!). Each time Grandma had baked me her famous chocolate cake & apple pie and my Great Aunt Pearls’ ginger snaps, which I love. And Grandma ALWAYS has a big bowl of old fashioned tapioca chilling in the fridge, with my name written all over it! Yes, I have to go on a diet afterwards, but who cares? How lucky am I to be able to still enjoy my Grandma and her baking??? So today Grandma received a BIG bouquet of flowers from yours truly, along with a hand stamped card, of course! I really took my time making my Grandma’s card and I must say, it was one of the most enjoyable cards I’ve made in a long, long time. I used some of my retired DSP and embellishments, along with THREE new stamp sets that will be released in January 2018: Picture Perfect Birthday, Lovely Wishes and Perennial Birthday. I was lucky to receive these stamp sets during the OnStage event in Salt Lake City, and I love them! So without further ado, here’s Grandma’s card, and 94 cheers to Grandma on her birthday…

There’s a lot going on with this card: I stamped lace (hard to see on the photo) from Background Bits stamp set (host set pg 220 Annual Catalogue) onto retired DSP (which I had spritzed with Flirty Flamingo ink and water, crumpled, dried and sponged with Crumb Cake). The Flowers are made with stamped and spritzed DSP (also using Background Bits stamp set) and circle punches. The stems were cut using the Everyday Jars Framelits die. The green layer is more DSP with the emboss resist technique, using images from the Lovely Wishes stamp set – also new and will be available Jan. 2018.
I love the sentiment “Today blooms just for you”, from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set, available January 3, 2018 in the Occasions Catalogue. The buttons and embellishments are retired.
I added a shout of ‘bling’ on the inside of the Grandma’s card, using the pink glimmer paper from last year’s SAB for the ’94’. The stamped images are from the Perennial Birthday and Picture Perfect Birthday stamp sets (2018 Occasions catalogue).

AvatarI joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
