Pop-Up Background Technique

March 15, 2017 2 Comments

Hi Friends. Well, I’m happy to say that we didn’t get the potential 30cm of snow with yesterday’s storm, instead we got LOTS of rain and wind. The wind was pretty much like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. It was crazy loud and ferocious – in fact the whole house was shaking. It was well after 3am before I was able to fall asleep. Woke up this morning to discover the wind had actually blown the door right off the wood shed, not to mention branches all over the lawn. But, we didn’t lose power – which was a good thing! Calm as can be and plus 10 today – does that mean SPRING is almost here? I hope so!

Today’s card is one I’m calling the Pop-Up Background technique.
It’s really simple but super cool:

So without further ado:

Here are more card samples I made,
using the same Pop-Up Background Technique:

Out of
all of today’s cards, this one is my favourite. It’s also the card I used
for this month’s project sheet in a group I belong to with other SU
demos – so you may see it floating around the internet with the PS
watermark.

Special Reason Stamp Set and Stylish Stems Dies

So Very Much Sale-a-bration stamp set, Best Birds stamp set and Birds & Blooms Thinlits Dies

This is the card I created, using the leftover ‘second’ piece from the first bird card (above).

Just playing around, I added a window sheet, ran the card layer through the Woodgrain embossing folder and used the Lots of Labels Framelits (FYI – I just got the Lots of Labels framelits for the first time yesterday and I LOVE them! Be prepared to see them on a lot of future projects! haha

Happy Stamping!

PS: In yesterday’s post I mentioned I was going to make a big batch of spaghetti sauce. It was SO GOOD I thought I’d share the recipe, which is from Ree Drummond, Pioneer Woman. I adore all things PW. None of her recipes have ever failed me either – and this sauce was no exception; it was absolutely fabulous (if I do say so myself). Want to know my secret ingredient? Add a spoonful of Marmite. I can’t stand the stuff and you’ll NEVER see me eat it on toast BUT it adds a beautiful richness to spaghetti sauce, shepherds pie and chili. So there ya go! Check out Ree’s recipe and her site. If she’s ‘new to you’ you can thank me later for introducing you. She’s truly a breath of fresh air. xx

AvatarI joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

Thank you so much for this inspiration for the Country Livin' and Hardwood stamps. I love how you lined them up and embossed the guitar and boots. I also like the scrunched up flags. I'm going to make these for sure. Oh yes, and the Special Reason one – that is my favorite new set.
