Hi Friends!  I hope you had a nice long weekend (for those of us in Canada).  I had a fab weekend.  Hubby and I went to the Farmers Market, which is about an hours drive away but it’s oh soooo scenic!
Taking the ferry across the river, to get to the Kingston Farmers Market

At the market I bought a big jar of local honey that I can promise you, will NOT last long in our house.  It is absolutely DELICIOUS!  I also bought some smoked salmon, green beans (ours didn’t grow in our garden for some reason…), homemade samosas (I’ve got to learn how to make my own) and raspberries.  I now have 8 jars of raspberry jam to tuck into our cold room for the winter months.  Of course, I just HAD to use the new Friendship Preserves stamp set and coordinating Window Frames Collection to jazz up my jam jars!

I’m going to keep one jar out on display, I think, on one of my kitchen shelves.

I really enjoying canning and preserving so I know I’m going to be using these new stamps and framelits a TON.  And I’ve found some amazing new recipes to try out, which will make great Christmas gifts.  (Speaking of recipes, just a heads up – my recipe page is out of commission at the moment.  Hopefully it will be fixed soon.)
I also spent quite a bit of time in our garden – the grass has been trying to take over but I think I’ve got most of it under control now.  It just took over while I was away in Utah; but at least most of our veg is still thriving.  Our garden was planted VERY late this year and it’s not the best.  Our corn didn’t grow either and last year it grew no problemo.  Oh well.  It’s a learning process.

Can’t wait to start eating our swede and beets (my fav!). And this is the first year I’ve grown green peppers, and like most veggies, there’s no comparison to what you buy in the grocery stores.  These peppers are incredible! Crunchy, crisp and juicy! Oh my gosh.

And the tomatoes are going to be great too, if they would just hurry up and ripen….
We are also moving our wood shed which meant I had to move my herbs and rhubarb, as they were in the spot the wood is going to be put in.  So I cut back all of my sage and it’s drying out (I even made a wreath with some of it!) and all of my rhubarb (which has been growing profusely this year) is cut and ready for jam making (and liqueurs!).  In amongst of all our yard work we also managed to squeeze in a wonderful bike ride yesterday.  I LOVE biking.  I kick myself for not doing it more often.  Before I moved to New Brunswick I used to bike every week, for miles and miles, all over Burnaby and Vancouver.  There aren’t as many bike paths/trails here (at least not in the area we live in) but at least we’re still finding some spots to bike on – like the old railroad beds.
Hubby and hound
Scenery along our bike route – SO pretty!
Rosey
ran and swam her heart out.  In fact, her tail is out of commission
from all the wagging (and swimming) so she’ll have to take it easy
today!
So that was my weekend.  Oh, and lemme tell ya: it has been HOT! Our thermometer has passed the 30′ mark a few times – that’s when you get your butt inside the house, where the cool fans are, pour a cup of ice cold sun tea and STAMP!  That’s what you do when it’s too hot to work outside my friends.  STAMP.  If it’s raining, STAMP.  Snowing, never mind.  You get the idea.
Let’s stamp…

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
