“Snow Many Stars” Card Tutorial

September 15, 2019 1 Comment

Hi Friends!  I hope you’re having a nice weekend so far! Yesterday I canned pickled onions – my favourite! I had a heck of a time finding silverskin onions but let me tell ya, I was sure excited when I finally did!

These onions soak in a brine for three days, draining and starting with a fresh brine each day. On the third day, I peel them (this also takes a long time) and then pop them in the jars with their vinegar & sugar mixture and seal. Time-consuming, for sure, for absolutely worth it – they are super yummy!

Aside from canning, I’ve also been cooking the meals for “Giant Bluefin Tuna Charters”, as their season is in full swing. This is my third year catering the meals for them and I love it. I have a set menu that includes Steak & Ale Pie, Bangers & Mash, Seafood Chowder (my most popular meal), Lasagne, Beef Stroganoff, Chicken Pasties and more.

I’m also still in the process of moving my craft room from downstairs to upstairs, which is a HUGE job. The room I’m moving into has a window (the room downstairs didn’t) and after Hurricane Dorian and five days without power, I decided I’d rather stamp in natural light than have the (loud) generator on. The upstairs room is MUCH smaller though and it’s going to be tricky trying to fit everything in without feeling cluttered and cramped. Good thing I like a challenge! My guy is also going to build shelves inside the closet for me, which will really make a difference and help with storage. I’ll share photos once it’s all finished. I’ve really missed having a window in my stamping space – especially in the winter and seeing the pretty snow falling outside.

So you can see it’s been a busy weekend for me, but it’s been a nice weekend too and I even found time to stamp a card this morning…

The card I am sharing with you today is for this month’s “Leader’s Project Group”. I used the new “Snow Many Stars” bundle from the holiday catalogue and this is the first chance I’ve had to play with it.

I decided to really ‘glitz’ things up with this card too! I’d say “Mission Accomplished” on that one because this card has glitter, shimmer, glimmer, foil, embossing, sequins and bling. Maybe I drank too much coffee this morning, but I was all about the ‘POW’ factor today LOL. I hope you enjoy this card tutorial!

Measurements:
  • Night
    of Navy: 5 ½” x 8 ½” , 5” x 3 ¾”, plus scrap piece
  • Silver
    Foil: 5 ½” x 4 ¼”
Instructions:

  1. Fold
Night of Navy card stock in half to create card base.
  2. Glue
Silver Foil card stock layer to front of card.
  3. Rub
embossing buddy over 5” x 3 ¾” Night of Navy card stock layer.
  4. Use
Versamark ink to stamp large star, sentiment and small star images
to card. Sprinkle on White Emboss Powder, tap off excess and set
    with heat tool.
  5. Stamp
more small stars to card using Versamark ink. Sprinkle Silver Emboss
Powder over top, shake off excess and set with heat tool.
  6. Use
your finger (or a small dauber if you prefer) and tap into the Craft
Whisper White ink and rub onto embossed stars in a small swirly
motion. Repeat over the large and small stars.
  7. Stamp
more stars onto a scrap piece of Night of Navy card stock, inking
with Versamark and embossing in white. Cut out with coordinating
die. Use mini dimensionals (cutting some in half) to adhere the
    smaller stars onto card front.
  8. Cut
a small star for centre of the large star on card, using a scrap
piece of Silver Glimmer card stock and coordinating die. Adhere to
centre of star with a glue dot.
  9. Place
rhinestones in centre of all the stars.
  10. Use
fine tip glue to add Snowflake Sequins and Ice Stampin’ Glitter to
    card.
  11. Fill
in the largest star with Shimmery Crystal Effects. Add a few random
drops of Shimmery Crystal effects throughout the smaller stars. Set
    card aside to dry.
  12. Swipe
Clear Wink of Stella across the sentiment.
  13. Spritz
entire card with Champagne Shimmer Mist Paint (add a few drops to a
bottle of 70% rubbing alcohol, shake and mist).

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
