Stylish Christmas & Snow is Glistening

October 22, 2018 Leave a Comment

Hi Friends! I hope you had a nice weekend. They always go by so fast though, right? Friday afternoon was interesting – we had our first (unexpected) snowfall!

And by the very next day the snow was gone (thank goodness)….and my sweet doggies and I were back to playing our daily game of ball! (By the way, they LOVE the snow! hahah)

I spent pretty much all of Saturday in the kitchen, canning the tomatoes from my garden. I made some of my favourite chutney and even a tomato jam, from an old vintage recipe. I honestly wasn’t sure how the jam would turn out but was pleasantly surprised – it’s delicious and I can’t wait to have it on some homemade buttermilk biscuits!

Yesterday I continued on with my canning and made some Chow Chow – a very popular green tomato condiment here in the Maritimes and it is soooo good!

I’ve never made Chow Chow before, but my goodness, now that I have, I’ll be making it every year. It’s absolutely scrumptious! In fact, I’ll be finishing a second batch I’ve got on the go today (they take two days to make). So that leaves me one more box of tomatoes and four massive zucchini to go, and all the veggies from this year’s garden will be put up for the season. I think I’m just going to blanch and freeze the rest of the tomatoes (they’re ripe) and use for winter stews, spaghetti’s and sauces. What to you like to make with your garden produce?

Onto today’s card… and considering I’ve been up since 3am this morning (with a sick kitty) I’m surprised I was able to create this on little sleep and not enough coffee:

I really like how the card turned out and the sentiment, in my opinion, is the clincher that just pulls this card design together. It’s from a new stamp set coming out in November, called Snow is Glistening. This is one of two new stamp sets that are part of our Snowflake Showcase available next month – you’re going love all these new products!

I tried to get a photo of the card to show you how sparkly it is! I used Champagne Shimmer Mist Paint mixed with rubbing alcohol to spray the card.

AvatarI joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
