Ahh, the Joys of Winter

February 10, 2015 Leave a Comment

Hi Friends! I can’t believe it’s been a week since my last post. It’s just been pretty busy around these here parts. We received a good bit of snow with the last storm and more coming this week. However, what we weren’t prepared for was the flooding in our guest house/cottage! Because we had snow, rain, ice, snow, and then rain, the water wasn’t able to go into the ground because of the layer of ice. It therefore gushed downhill, into the cottage – about 4 inches worth – over the entire floor. All our cabinets for our kitchen renos were in water (so much for thinking everything would be safe and dry in there) as well as windows and doors, etc (also for renos). On top of this, most of the water was frozen so it was ice we were dealing with, not just water. What a mess. So my husband and I had to shovel as much ice out as we could, move all the cabinets to lay pallets underneath and then stack everything back.

The hardest part was getting the carpet out. Not only was it super heavy with all the water, it was also full of ice, making it a real challenge for us to get it pulled outside. Truth be told, there were some authentic “I Love Lucy” moments on my part, slipping and sliding, yankin’ and pullin’. But when all was said and done, hubby and I got it sorted (now we just have to get the rest of the water out).  Fortunately, just as we finished up the sun was setting and the view was breath-taking. It just reinforced my love for this place and filled my heart with gratitude….

Today’s inspiration is coming to you directly via Stampin’ Up! with their fabulous videos showcasing some of the Sale-a-bration products you can earn free until March.

Well that’s it for me – I’m off to bake some peanut butter cookies .  Then I’m going to tackle a shawl I’m crocheting and buckle down for the night.  I must say, we’re definitely snug as bugs in our cozy home – which makes the snow (and flooding) not quite so bad.

HAPPY STAMPING!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
