Very Vintage Welcome Cards

February 26, 2019 3 Comments

Hi Friends! I always like to send hand-stamped “Welcome” cards to new Stampin’ Up! demonstrators on my team (all levels). Whether someone just bought our Starter Kit for the fabulous savings (especially during Sale-a-bration) and nothing else, OR if they want to take advantage of the business opportunity too – I welcome them all! I also include everyone who buys the starter kit into my “Serene Stampers” community and members stretch right across Canada and we have a ball together! To learn more about my Serene Stampers group, just click here.

So for last weeks “Welcome” cards, I used the Very Vintage stamp set:

One of the things I did on each card was a torn edge along one side, adhering some card stock behind it. Tearing our card stock like this was all the rage when I first became a demonstrator years ago. Now you don’t see it so much anymore, but it’s worth bringing back, don’t you think?

I first stamped the images tone on tone, with Crumb Cake ink onto the Crumb Cake card base, making a subtle watermark background.  I also used a couple of splatters with my “Timeless Textures” stamp set and some Soft Suede ink. In case you’re wondering about the “Welcome to our Stampin’ Up! family” stamp, this is from a set available years ago and has long since retired (sorry, I can’t recall the name of the set).

To colour the image I used my Stampin’ Write Markers in Calypso Coral, Mango Medley, Old Olive, Poppy Parade, Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay. Of course, I added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the bee’s wings. Which reminds me, I need to order some more of that sparkly-goodness – it would be a sad day indeed should I run out of my favourite glitter! Yeesh, what a frightening thought! LOL

Some of the stamped pieces were mounted on Calypso Coral card stock, some Basic Black, and some were cut with the Rectangle Stitched Dies. I like how they all turned out though and I hope these cards bring a smile to each of the recipients!

AvatarI joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

What a kind gesture you do. These cards will be well loved. I do like the torn edges and haven't seen it done before.
