Hi Friends!  If you’re looking to find more cards and samples featuring the “Smack Down Technique” you’re in the right place! I’ve got a whole bunch to share with you which show the many different ways to use this technique.  And if this technique is new to you you’re in luck – I’ve got two videos that show you how it’s done; two totally different looks, just by switching up the stamps and the ink colours:

 By the Tide Card

 Blooming with Kindness Card.

The trick to this technique is to “Smack Down” in small areas at a time.  You’ll also get completely different backgrounds depending on the intensity of your ink (stamp off once onto scrap paper before you “smack down” to remove the darker ink).

You can also use sponges to add colour in and around your images.  Use one colour, or use three or four colours – the sky is the limit!  Just have fun with it and you’ll see what I mean.  Here is some more “Smack Down” inspiration for you:

Lovely as a Tree and Really Good Greetings Stamp Sets
Mixed Bunch and Feel Goods Stamp Sets
Bloom with Hope Hostess Only Stamp Set
By the Tide and Something to Say Stamp Sets
This is the card I created in the video.  It’s pretty much the same card as the one above it but it really shows you the difference just from using darker inks.

This is my first Project Life page.  I had so much fun making it.  I stamped an entire 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of whisper white card stock, using the Smack Down Technique, to create a “One Sheet Wonder”.  Then I simply cut into pieces I needed to fit inside the pockets and for the embellishments.

I can’t believe it’s Friday – where do the days go?  My friend Karen is coming over today to spend the weekend with us – I can’t wait to see her! It’s bizarre that while we’re both born and raised from the same town on Vancouver Island, now we only live a couple of hours apart here in Nova Scotia.  You just never know where the wind will blow you.  I’m really glad that we’re living close to one another again.

Karen and I have been best buddies since we were kids – don’t you just love friendships like that?  It’s special when you’ve shared your childhood history together, not to mention your teen and then adult years.  Makes for a LOT of good stories and laughs, that’s for sure!

I hope you have a great weekend too and HAPPY STAMPING!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
