Hi Friends! Recently I was scrolling through some of my older videos to get some ideas, as I’m having fun revamping techniques that I had forgotten about. I decided to create some cards using a technique from the very first video that I ever made, eight years ago, which you can see here. If you watch this, please keep in mind that I was brand-spankin’ new to making videos; I can sure see how much I’ve learned (and continue to learn) during my journey on YouTube!
The technique is called “Acrylic Distress” and uses paint, embossing folders and a bit of sandpaper to create beautiful vintagey/rustic backgrounds. This technique was originally shared in an article that Stampin’ Up! had published in a “Stampin’ Success” magazine they once provided for demonstrators (I sure miss these publications, but now we have Pinterest LOL).
To create this beautifully textured background you first add a couple coats of acrylic paint to your cardstock – it can be white or coloured, either will work! Once the paint is dry simply place your cardstock inside an embossing folder and run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Next, you take a piece of fine-grit sandpaper and LIGHTLY buff some of the paint off the raised embossed image! The result is so neat and perfect for so many craft projects (cards, home decor, scrapbook pages, mixed media, etc).
I had so much FUN making these cards and resurrecting the acrylic distress technique!
I hope you enjoy my video demonstration and give this technique a try!

Very nice technique. It gives off a lovely shabby chic look, which I always like. Finally ordered my "tiles" stamp set. After seeing your first video, I was convinced it was a must-have. Have a great day!
