Hi Friends! Last month I made a birthday card for my mom and I had SO MUCH FUN making it that I decided to make another similar card so that I could film the process. Here is the card I made for my mom:
I absolutely LOVE how this card turned out! It was also one of the MOST FUN cards that I’ve made in a while. Of course, I always love stamping and creating but I don’t often just PLAY like I did with this card. I usually have a ‘plan’ when I make my cards and keep them ‘tidy’, if you know what I mean. This card is not like that, in the sense that I really didn’t have a plan as I was making it. I just wanted to have fun with it and let the process of creating just FLOW and wow, the results, I think, were BEAUTIFUL!
I love the colour combination with the Magenta Madness, Just Jade and Bumblebee inks – even the Crumb Cake colour is perfect on this card. Here’s my second card, which I filmed for you…
You can see that while it has some similarities to the first card, it came out very different. The colours are more intense, the design layout is a bit different and I also added lace.
Bottom line – these cards were just pure JOY to make! That, to me, is the very most important part of creating and stamping. To relax, play, and have FUN with our cards and projects. No rules, no restrictions, only doing what you want to and what makes you happy. Here’s my video demonstration on how I made this card, using what I’m calling the “Colour Ink Block Technique”…
This would be fun using other colours and stamps too. Imagine using blues and with snowflakes for Christmas cards, or soft pastel shades for baby or wedding cards, or neutral colours and greens with nature images such as leaves, birds, flowers, etc. The possibilities are endless and I hope you give this technique a try and have as much fun PLAYING with your creation as I did mine!
Product ListHere are a few more ways that I used my blocks and ink pads on cards:
- Block Background Technique
- Clear Block Stamping
- Mirror Image Butterfly Card
- Popped Up Focal Technique (using blocks and inks)
- Colour Block Stamping Card #1
- Colour Block Stamping Card #2
- Colour Block Stamping Card #3
Have a wonderful weekend, stay well & HAPPY STAMPING!

I left a comment on your video, but it is never too much to add another comment here. I am so in love with this card. You truly have a special talent in creating such versatile styles. This mixed media reminds me of your ATC. You blow me away with your talent. I want to grow up to be just like you — LOL.
