Hi Friends! Last week I shared a demonstration for the “Block Background Technique”, which, if you missed it, I’ve included the video (below) for you. After I made the cards using this technique I had leftover bits and pieces from trimming the card stock and I am so glad I didn’t toss them! I had a feeling these scraps would make a pretty background for another card.
This morning I aligned the leftover strips over an adhesive sheet that I had cut to measure 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″. I trimmed the edges and used Stampin’ Dimensionsals to adhere it to a 3 3/4″ x 5″ Basic Black layer. The card base is Seaside Spray with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Magenta Madness card stock layer. Now lemme tell ya just how much I’m loving the Dove of Hope bundle, especially the Detailed Dove Dies…I LOVE THEM! Yes, that’s me hollerin’. I have soooo many ideas for the large dove die that I used on my card today. Home decor and gift ideas, and of course, for my scrapbook pages too. Not enough hours in the day for all my creative ideas! At least not right now, because I’ve been a picklin’ fanatic in my kitchen!
Yesterday I finished canning my Bread & Butter Pickles and Dill Pickles. Today I’m heading out to my garden to finish picking my Black Currants and then I’ll be making jam. Tomorrow I’ll pull out my beets to get them pickled too! The beet greens are gonna get steamed and served with a bit of butter and salt and pepper as a side for supper. I sure LOVE my garden! However, this picklin’ season is intruding on my stamping time! LOL
But I digress, let’s get back to today’s card…
Aside from the dove, all of the die cuts were leftovers from previous projects. Even the stamped label was a leftover piece that I didn’t use. I keep all these bits and bobs in a pretty pottery bowl on my desk and it’s so handy! I love using these recycled pieces on my cards and projects, which also saves me time, as they’re already cut and/or stamped! To finish my card I added a gold trim ribbon, some rhinestones and a generous spritzing of Champagne Shimmer Mist Paint. To see how I make this spray, click here.
I am so happy with how my card turned out and I know exactly who it’s going to, so I’d best get it signed, sealed and mailed.

PS: in my last video I mentioned that I had just made another batch of Iced Tea in my instant pot and I was asked if I’d share how I make it. So hop on over to my recipe page (click the top at the top) to see how I make my yummy iced tea – which is so easy and quick!
