Hi Friends! Last weekend at my Creative Escape Retreat, I taught a couple of speciality classes. One of the classes was a demonstration on how to make book boxes, featuring our new Magnolia Lane Suite. I had seen ATC boxes online and I wanted to create my own version. My friend, Stephanie came over to help me make a template for the book box (thanks Stephanie!). I was THRILLED with the end result and couldn’t wait for all my retreat guests to make one of these boxes for themselves (which they loved!).
I had seen ATC book boxes online and I wanted to create my own version. I was THRILLED with the end result and couldn’t wait for all my retreat guests to make one of these boxes for themselves (which they loved!). If you’ve not heard of ATC before, it stands for altered trading cards, which are making a huge comeback into the crafting world. Remember hockey and baseball card trading that kids would do? Same thing, but it’s with cards that have been stamped. Of course, you’d need a spot to store them all in, hence the “ATC Book Box”. This box is also ideal for holding trinkets and treasures, jewellery, etc.
- 2 1/4″ x 12 (to wrap around box, except the very back, which will be glued to spine).
Inside Box:
- 4 1/4″ x 3 (bottom inside of box)
- 4 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ (two pieces)
- 3″ x 2 1/4″ (two pieces)
- 4 3/4″ x 3 1/4″ (four pieces for back of front flaps)
- 4 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ (two pieces for back & front of spine)
*To make the magnolia flowers, you’ll need the new “Hot Air Balloon” punch, along with the Magnolia Memory Dies. Here’s the video from Stampin’ Up! on how to make them.
*I also used a hot glue gun, dried moss (from a craft store) & a few twigs from my yard to complete today’s project.
